Ezicon Painting & Decorating provides exterior painting services across Brisbane and South-East Queensland. We paint weatherboards, render, masonry, eaves, fascias, gutters, feature trims and fences. Brisbane exteriors face some of the harshest conditions in the country: intense UV, heavy summer rain, humidity and the thermal cycling that comes with a Queensland climate. A properly prepared and correctly applied exterior paint job lasts. A rushed one does not.
The Queensland climate is not kind to poorly prepared paint. UV exposure in South-East Queensland is among the highest in Australia, and summer storm season brings driving rain that forces water into any crack or adhesion failure. Brisbane’s humidity also means surfaces that are not properly dried, cleaned and primed before painting will have adhesion issues within the first wet season.
A good exterior paint job starts before a brush or roller touches the surface. We pressure wash the exterior to remove dirt, mould, chalking and loose paint. We sand back any areas of paint failure, fill cracks and gaps, apply a quality primer to bare surfaces, and caulk gaps at joints and reveals. This preparation is where most exterior jobs go wrong when it is skipped or rushed.

Weatherboard homes across Brisbane, particularly older Queenslanders, present particular challenges. Timber moves with moisture and temperature, paint can pull away at joints, and high-set homes often mean working at height across multiple elevations. We have painted weatherboard homes across the inner and outer Brisbane suburbs and we understand the prep requirements for timber in a Queensland climate.

Render and masonry need a different preparation and primer system to timber. We assess the render condition, repair any cracks or hollow sections before painting, and apply a quality exterior primer designed to bond to the substrate. Painted render that chalks, peels or develops map cracking is almost always a preparation failure. We do not skip that step.

Eaves and fascias are the parts of a Brisbane exterior that take the most punishment from the sun. UV exposure on north and west-facing eaves causes paint to chalk and flake faster than on shaded surfaces. We sand back, spot prime and apply a UV-resistant topcoat to eaves and fascias as part of a full exterior repaint. Gutters are cleaned and painted where they form part of the scope.

Feature trims, window surrounds, front fences and gates are included in our exterior painting scope where specified. Colour accents and trim detailing can add significant visual interest to a Brisbane home exterior, and we can advise on what tends to work well in the local light conditions.

Brisbane's storm season runs from roughly November through March. Exterior paint applied and cured before storm season arrives is in the best position to handle the weather. If you are planning an exterior repaint, getting it done before the wet season starts gives the paint maximum time to cure and means your home goes into summer properly protected.
We are honest about timing: paint applied during high humidity or on wet surfaces will not perform well regardless of the product used. If the conditions are not right, we tell you. We would rather delay a day and do it properly than rush and have it fail.
We use quality commercial-grade exterior paint products designed for Australian conditions. For Brisbane specifically, UV resistance and water resistance are the two most important performance factors. We can recommend specific paint systems based on the substrate, the orientation of the surfaces and the existing paint condition, and we include the product specification in your quote.
For homes with exposed metal elements, we use appropriate metal primers before topcoating. For render, we use alkali-resistant primers where required. The product system goes into your quote so you know exactly what is going on your home.
We cover Brisbane metro and suburbs, the Gold Coast, Logan, Ipswich and surrounding areas. Whether you are repainting a single-storey brick home in Logan or a two-storey Queenslander in inner Brisbane, we are set up to handle the job. For our full service area see the painters Brisbane hub page.
If you are alsolooking at roof painting as part of a full exterior refresh, see our roof painting page for what is involved and how we quote it.
A properly prepared and correctly applied exterior paint job on a Brisbane home should last eight to twelve years under normal conditions. The main variables are surface preparation quality, product choice, the orientation of the walls (north-facing walls receive more UV) and how well the surfaces were maintained. We do not make specific durability guarantees, but preparation is the single biggest factor and we do not skip it.
We can paint in warm conditions, but direct afternoon sun on a wall surface and high ambient temperatures can affect application and drying. We work earlier in the day where possible, work on shaded elevations in the afternoon, and will advise if conditions on a particular day are not suitable for a quality result. We will not apply paint in conditions that will compromise the finish.
A primer is designed to bond to the substrate and seal the surface. An undercoat builds the topcoat system and provides opacity and adhesion. For an exterior repaint, the right preparation often involves both, particularly on bare timber, fresh render or previously painted surfaces that have chalked badly. We specify what is needed in the quote rather than using a one-size approach.
Yes. Fences, gates, retaining walls and garden structures can be included in an exterior painting scope. Timber fences may need a different product to the house exterior depending on the existing finish. We assess and quote them as part of the same site visit.
For a straight exterior repaint, you generally do not need to be home during the work. We need access to the site and to any locked gate areas, and someone should be available at the start of the job to confirm the scope and show us access. Beyond that, exterior work does not require you to be present.
